DIY Leg Warmers

So I loved this idea from one of my favorite blogs, A Beautiful Mess. You transform an old sweater into awesome leg warmers! Click the link above for detailed instructions. Here are the pairs I made...

I used lace to tie them at the bottom. I love lace!
This pair is super comfy. I'm wearing them today!

Can't see the actual leg warmers in this one too well, but I just liked how the pic turned out!

By the way family and friends, please comment if you like something I make. Who knows? Maybe you'll receive a little gift from time to time...

Can Anyone ID These Plants?

I've been working on cleaning out my patio to prepare for the garden I intend to have. I've seen 9 black widows in the process! I'm getting really good at predicting where I'll find them, however, and I cover my entire body with long sleeves, boots, and gloves. I use a broom to move everything too, so I'm sure I won't ever get bitten (knock on wood). They're really quite beautiful spiders to be honest, so much to Henry's disagreement, I don't usually kill them.

The previous tenant left behind some of his plants that I've now adopted, but I'm not sure the names for several of them. Does anyone recognize any of these?
Not the aloe, but the one in the white pot. Maybe a type of lilly? I hope so!

Both the left one and the right. The one on the right had some magenta flowers that looked like geraniums to me, but the leaves don't look like the geraniums in the pics I saw on the internet...

A scraggly climber.

Thanks for your help!

Cornmeal Scrub

So I've tried several different homemade face scrubs, but my favorite so far has been simple old cornmeal. I read about it being a very gentle exfoliant in my Whole Living magazine. Anyway I tried it, loved it, and now keep a jar of cornmeal by my shower. Try it out!

I'm Excited!

Hooray! I'm excited about this new blog. It's already started helping me see the beauty in ordinary, every day things. I hope you all enjoy my posts even though some may not interest anyone but my future posterity who will look back to see what life was like for Lacey Ammar in 2011.

Healthy Turkey Sandwich

I'm excited about my new blog! The only trouble is now I want to take a picture of every ordinary thing I find the least bit beautiful... One thing that did pop out enough for me to actually take a picture and want to post is the healthy turkey sandwiches I make and pack for Henry's lunches. We're trying to go preservative-free in our diet (at least when we're eating at home, which is most of the time), and this sandwich is preservative free when I make it on home-made bread!
